So, you’ve got a great idea for a research study – but what approvals do you need before you can start? Who do you apply to? And how do you go about doing this?
Join an online 'live' presentation through Microsoft Teams for an overview of:
- how research is governed in the UK
- which approval bodies are involved
- a step-by-step guide on how to apply for approval
- handling amendments to your study
How to book a place
This training is only available to colleagues who work in the University of Oxford, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Format
Online 'live' presentation through Microsoft Teams, with practical exercises and time for questions.
Duration
- Presentation session: 10.00am to 12.30pm in three parts with two short breaks
- Q&A session and time for additional discussion: 12.30pm to 1.00pm (optional)
Frequency
One session per month on Tuesdays (excluding August and December).
Training capacity
The course can accommodate 10 - 25 people.
We will try our best to book you onto your preferred session. However, if the minimum attendance number is not attained then we will have to cancel the session and move attendees onto the next available session. Likewise, if the training session is fully booked then we will book you onto the next available session.

What is needed
To attend the session you will need to have the Microsoft Teams desktop app installed, or log in with a browser (must be Chrome or Edge). You will need a webcam and microphone with speakers or headset. You need to be online with a reliable internet connection. An invitation to join the Teams session will be emailed to you when your place and the session are confirmed.
